Bioclimate of the Carpathians-Preferences and Limits to Recreation
The differentation of bioclimate of the Polish Carpathians in macro- and mesoscale was presented in the light of contemporary state of knowledge. Two aspects have been considered: methodology of applied scientific procedures, criteria of typologies. The features of mountain bioclimate, in two groups of publications which refer to whole Poland, were talked over — publications considering standard climate and bioclimate indices [8] and papers describing human body heat balance [3, 10]. Attention was paid to dynamic approaches to bioclimate based on weather typologies [2,15] and to
zonal differentiation of the Carpathian bioclimate in the reference to thermal sensations of a human being [12]. When characterizing mesobioclimate the Sutour index of climate stimulation [17] for the first time in Polish professional literature has been used. In the work different types of bioclimate, burdensome or optimal for recreation activities according to the needs and possibilities of a healthy man, were worked out.
