Ad Attempt at Evaluating the Voivodships from the Point of View of Tourism Infrastructure and Habitat

The development of tourist activity results from social and economic changes taking place in the country and, at the same time, it makes an element of this process. Assuming that the tourist activities, as a phenomenon, are determined by natural conditions and some forms of material equipment of an area, the choice of some suitable diagnostic variables has been made. The aim of this paper is to create the hierarchic voivodship arrangement basing on the multicriterial investigations of the present tourism infrastructure and the habitat state. The study has been made basing on the review data from 1989. Two variants of the results have been obtained; a— with regular arrangement of points among the variables and b— with preferential system of point evaluation of the diagnostic variables. The obtained results in both versions are a little different. Generally speaking, it can be stated that the best tourism infrastructure accompanied by preservation of the respectively high level of natural values is observed in the seaside voivodships and partly in the lake district as well as in the muntainous and piedmont voivodships in the south of Poland. The voivodships which occupy the lowest positions on this ranking list are situated in the central, central-eastern and south-eastern parts of the country. While taking up the solutions in the field of tourist activities organization, the current evaluation of the infrastructure level as well as the present state of habitat should be considered. This paper supplies the objective evaluation of each voivodship so it can be helpful in fulfillig this requirement.
