The Reformation of Tourism Studies at The Academy of Physical Education in Cracow This paper presents the new syllabus of tourism studies at The Academy of Physical Education in Cracow. In the first part of this article the stages of tourism education development at this Academy have been presented. The initial points for the author's elaboration of the scheme of tourism studies at The Academy of Physical Education in Cracow were the analysis of changes taking place in Tourism Institutes all over the world, the opinions expressed in the report made by The Committee of Experts for the affairs of National Education, as well as the results of examinations carried out by the author. The subject of these examinations was the education of the tourism staff and the results were presented in The Central Programme of Basic Investigations 08. 06. The scheme was accepted for realization in the academic year 1991/92 for the intramural studies at The Department of Tourism. This paper presents the assumptions for the syllabus, the organization of studies, the rules of admitting the candidates, the new lines of studies based on free choice of subjects and the tutor's duties. The final part of this paper includes the remarks connected with the suggested course of changes in the tourism academic education in Poland.
