Motives of Tourism and Recreation Students Specialization Choice

This article presents the investigation results of the motives of specialization choice made by 146 Firest Year students of Tourism and Recreation Faculties, the Academy of Physical Education, Cracow. It appears that the students under examination make the decisions, most often, basing on some of their psychical properties (interests, fondness), elements of information about the job and the inclination to acquire knowledge. The comparison of the students of Tourism to those studying Recreation shows that the former ones present a higher level of professional maturity (their decisions are based on more numerous rational reasons). Yet in both groups there appear some (rare) irrational motives of the future job choice. Thus, in the course of qualification for sudies, the author suggests the application of exertions which coulds let the examiners know the reasons of the candidates decisions connected with their further education.
