Exposition and tourist development forms of military buildings from the Second World War. Polish solutions and European practice

A lot of relicts from The Second World War are still waiting for tourist adaptation in Poland and in the whole Europe. Analyzing tourist development of selected military objects (permanent fortifications, battlefields, military cemeteries) one can state that the most common way of tourist exposition is adapting historic objects to museum and open-air museum function. There are many examples in Poland and other European countries that this proceeding is the most proper and successful. Creating thematic tourist routes based on military objects is a common European practice although in comparison with Poland other countries are characterized by greater utilization of not only fortifications but also other components of historic potential. Interesting Polish solution in the field of facilitation, protection and tourist development of military objects is fortifical-cultural park.
