Boredom, laziness and leisure
Free time is a common and fundamental phenomenon aiming at biological and psychological regeneration of the man. It occurred at the exact moment of the realization of the leisure need. Realization of free time through the variety of different leisure forms cannot be analyzed apart from the concept of work and human duties. The increase of free time is resulting from the development of civilization. The increase of free time in connection with development of civilization has caused social changes. Therefore, the people have developed new possibilities of leisure. Having at your disposal hours free from work and duties the man is trying to fill it up with many ways. This situation is presented in the analysis of the concepts of boredom and laziness.
The article is the study of the considerations of multidimensionality of boredom as the phenomenon arising from hedonistic approach to life. The common searching for pleasure has brought the negative feelings such as emptiness, apathy, monotony, etc. It extreme manifestations have brought the increase of crime, addictions and social isolation.
Analyzed phenomenon of laziness can lead to boredom, restraining the development of the individual. Consequently, she/he is not able to realize her/his life purposes and interests. Laziness apprehended both negatively and positively let us understand its importance on our way to achieve the purpose. It is crucial to stress that laziness and boredom are different phenomena.
Activities, the lack of them, as well as human experiences, cause particular states. Therefore it is worth to understand the meaning of free time and the quality and kind or form of leisure in the face of overwhelming consumption. It is worthwile, because it let us comprehend and confirm the social values which are exhibited in time beyond work and duties. This could be the way of trying to spend a life fulfilled with values.
