Sociology of touristry or tourism
In a view of sociology and general theory of tourism Jerzy Suprowicz has formed his book entitled “Sociology of Tourism”. On the ground of this monograph the reviewer familiarizes the readers with his own critical reflection that focuses mainly on notional terminology taken from the text.
Convinced that the art of interpretation of various dimensions and problems, which are typical for sociology of tourism, must go hand in hand with terminological consequence, the reviewer disapproves, to certain degree, of the author's inconsistency. He refers polemically to some controversial statements from the book he came across when reading it, and forms his own viewpoint on the subject.
In spite of all these facts, he points out two reasons why “Sociology of Tourism” may be regarded as a worth reading study: firstly, because of its multidimensional socio-cultural context, secondly, as a useful handbook, especially for those who are looking for basic knowledge of socio-cultural aspects of tourism.
