Tourist motivation sources in H. Bergson
and G. Marcel philosophy
Fundamental, for an assessment of tourism means, question about motives of traveling or–wider– tourist activity, brings another, deeper in its essence, question about, what tourism is in general and especially for a man.
Trying to answer the question, what tourism is–as a phenomenon– we need to get to heart of the matter and discussed concept.
Using the main conceptions of brilliant French thinkers: Henri Bergson and Gabriel Marcel, we have undertaken an attempt to analyze the tourism phenomenon as a way of trying to get to know a man, infiltrating and getting into the depth of own nature, the surrounding environment and finally tourism as a possible way of spending life fulfilled with values.
Possibly, in pursuing tourism, like in every single life activity, everything is about some sorts of being honest with yourself and the human being's acceptance in this specific form in which his activity shows.
Moreover, it's also important to reach the depth, head for entering the Sacrum, and feeling not satisfied with being in Profanum– obviously flat and unambiguous, both on the life plane and on the field of its single realizations.
Przecławski believes, that 'man in his existential essence is a pilgrim, and tourism is a marvelous analogy of the whole human's life”.
That's why perhaps, the only significant human being vocation to complete his life, is to not persist in his efforts.
Whatever the way of the hike is, it's important to consciously follow it towards something, which possibly may help us to discover its new, unexpected meaning.
