The analysis predisposed to agroturism development- with emphasis on influence of local goverment (as an example powiat gnieznienski) Agroturism is a kind of tourism connected with active farms, which enable tourists to experience country live and folk customs. This kind of tourism gives lots of economic and social benefits for inhabitants, farmers and the community of country. The development of agroturism depends on the country economic transformation, availability of investment credits and help of local goverments. One of the areas, on which are located agroturism farms, is powiat gnieznienski (Polish administrative unite), part of Wielkopolska Province. On the basis of opinion poll (and interviews with farmers, the local authorities and tourists) we can draw conclusions, that local goverment knows all the agroturistic farms but the most helpful for farmers are: Wojewodzki Osrodek Doradztwa Rolniczego and Poznanskie Towarzystwo Agroturystyczne. The project of local development strategy gives favourable conditions to popularize agroturism in powiat gnieznienski. This kind of tourism is alternative to mass tourism and can be reason to stay longer. If the tourists stay longer, they will spend more money and the local goverment will gain more revenues. But the local authorities should remember that agroturism for its development needs sustained efforts of all local society to establish and maintain the right image of their activity.
