Chosen Tourist Movement Indices The paper was based on three tourist movement parameters: number of tourist lodging houses, number of tourist sleeping places, number of tourists using the sleeping places. The indices were calculated for 386 communities and locations within the territories of ecological threat in Poland for the year 1995 and — on this background — the intensity of tourist movement in ,,Cracow territory" was analyzed. It was shown that Cracow territory holds high position among other 27 territories of ecological threat. It takes the 4th place in the light of the number of tourist lodging houses (Cracow territory covers 5,45% of all tourist lodging houses located within the territories of ecological threat in Poland), the 4th place in the light of the number of sleeping places (8,38%) and it takes the first place with regard to the number of tourists using the sleeping places (17,96%). Because of that the participation of Cracow territory of ecological threat in national tourist movement is considerable: 1,13% for lodging houses, 2,09% for sleeping places and 6,82% for the number of tourists. In this connection Cracow territory of ecological threat needs special concern refering to the state of natural environment. In spite of setting up the monitoring system which shows some positive trends in decreasing pollution there is still emergency of excessing limits of contamination and turning up smog.
